Our Story

Kid Country Daycare was created to meet a clear need in Twin Bridges and the surrounding rural communities: reliable childcare families could count on year after year. Established in 2002, Kid Country has grown alongside the community, adapting to changing family schedules and care needs while remaining rooted in local relationships.

Today, Kid Country is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), state-licensed childcare and early learning program serving infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. Located in Twin Bridges, Montana, we offer flexible scheduling options designed to work for rural families and seasonal employment patterns, providing continuity of care in a small-town setting.

Our Mission

Kid Country’s mission is the care, nurturing, and early education of young children from Twin Bridges and the surrounding communities. We believe in promoting the healthy growth and development of children; a significant component of this effort is providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate care that fosters the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the children we serve. We provide low-cost child care in a rural, economically challenged region of Montana. Our services allow parents to pursue employment while knowing their children are safe and in a learning environment.

A Community Effort

Kid Country exists because of community support. Parents, staff, board members, donors, volunteers, and local partners all play a role in sustaining our program. Together, we help ensure that children receive consistent care and that families can continue to live and work here.

STARS to Quality Program

We participate in Montana’s STARS to Quality program, which supports continuous improvement in early childhood education. Participation includes ongoing staff development, thoughtfully designed learning environments, and best practices that support children’s growth.
Kid Country is currently classified as a STARS Level 2 Program.

Organizational Structure

Daily operations at Kid Country are overseen by our program Director. The Director and program are governed by a five- to seven-member Board of Directors representing a cross-section of the local community.

The Board meets quarterly, with an annual meeting open to the public. Additional meetings are scheduled as needed. A current list of Board members is available from the Director upon request.

In a town our size, childcare isn’t just a service; it’s part of the community’s foundation.
